10 standalone Fringe episodes you can now stream for free

Pluto TV has added all 100 episodes of Fringe to its free streaming library. The series, often called the spiritual successor to The X-Files, ran for five seasons from 2008 to 2013, and while its full mythology rewards bingeing, there are plenty of standalone episodes that give a sharp taste of the show’s weirdness.

Fringe follows FBI agent Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv) as she teams with mad scientist Dr. Walter Bishop (John Noble) and his son Peter (Joshua Jackson) in the bureau’s Fringe Division. Olivia and Peter share a Mulder‑and‑Scully style chemistry, Walter supplies much of the show’s bizarre humor, and Lance Reddick appears as their often exasperated supervisor, Phillip Broyles.

Showrunners J. H. Wyman and Jeff Pinkner built a coherent, satisfying larger narrative, but they also filled the seasons with Monster‑of‑the‑Week stories that can be gross and disturbing in all the right ways.
