Heated Rivalry wrapped its six-episode first season, but the Canadian series left plenty of small moments for viewers to pore over. Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie play Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, rival hockey players who have been secretly seeing each other.

The show is adapted from Rachel Reid’s Game Changers novels: the first book is Game Changer, which centers on Scott Hunter and Kip Grady, and the series also includes Heated Rivalry, Tough Guy, Common Goal, Role Model, The Long Game and the upcoming Unrivaled. Several blink-and-you-miss-it cameos and nods thread the show back to the books and to Canadian hockey culture.

Creator Jacob Tierney appears as a commercial director, Brendan Brady slips in as another director, and the fictional podcast Man in the Crease is voiced by Conor McKenna and Shaun Starr.
