16-year-old Leonard Prescott may make Bayern history; his stats are mixed
With Manuel Neuer, Jonas Urbig and Sven Ulreich sidelined, 16-year-old Leonard Prescott could make his competitive debut for Bayern Munich’s first team on Wednesday in the Champions League round of 16 second leg against Atalanta Bergamo. At 16 years and 176 days he would be four years younger than Neuer was at his debut and two years younger than Bayern’s youngest goalkeeper to date, Sven Scheuer.
He would also become the youngest goalkeeper in Champions League history and the competition’s eighth-youngest player, behind Max Dowman, Youssoufa Moukoko and Lamine Yamal. Neuer remains out with a muscle tear and Ulreich is sidelined by a torn muscle from the 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen; Urbig, who suffered a concussion in the 6-1 first-leg win over Atalanta, is the only one who might be fit by Wednesday.
Leon Klanac from the reserves has been out with a thigh injury. Kompany seems to rate the U19 goalkeeper Prescott more highly—he was third choice for the first leg and on the bench against Leverkusen.
