AI agents are increasingly acting like virtual employees, and they need keys, passwords and API credentials to do their work. 1Password has launched Unified Access to help organizations manage those human and agent secrets, with discovery, vaulting and an audit capability that is coming soon.

The platform is built to discover existing agents and exposed credentials across endpoints, browsers and local environments, identifying plaintext environment files, unencrypted SSH keys and other embedded secrets. 1Password describes the offering as a three-step paradigm: discover, secure and eventually audit access across both human and AI identities.

Rather than storing credentials in prompts, scripts or environment files, the platform centralizes secrets in a secure vault so credentials can be retrieved only when needed.
