A shooting inside a student housing complex on the South Carolina State University campus left two teenagers dead and a third person wounded. The Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office identified the dead as Henry L. Crittington, 19, and Terrell Thomas, 18. Sam Watson, a school spokesman, said neither was a student and both had been visiting campus as guests of a student; the wounded man was a student and remained hospitalized as of Friday afternoon.

No suspect was in custody. Mr. Crittington was pronounced dead at the scene, the coroner’s office said; Mr. Thomas was transported to a nearby hospital and died shortly after arrival. The shooting occurred around 9:15 p.m. inside a room at the Hugine Suites complex and prompted a campus lockdown that lasted about eight hours.

Officials canceled classes and campus activities through Monday and said counseling services would be available. The killings were the second deadly shooting on campus, and the third shooting overall, in four months.
