20 Years Later, The Departed Finds New Life on Streaming

Twenty years after its 2006 release, The Departed has seen a surge in streaming viewership. FlixPatrol shows it was among the most-watched movies on the global HBO Max charts over the Super Bowl weekend, when the leaderboard was topped by M3GAN 2.0. Martin Scorsese's crime drama stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon, with Jack Nicholson, Alec Baldwin, Vera Farmiga and Mark Wahlberg in a career-best supporting turn.

The plot follows an undercover cop and a mole in the police as they each try to identify the other while infiltrating an Irish gang in South Boston. Produced on a reported $90 million budget, The Departed grossed more than $290 million worldwide and holds a "Certified Fresh" 91% critics' score and a 94% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
