Austin Tucker Martin, 21, of Cameron, N.C., was shot and killed after entering Mar-a-Lago carrying what appeared to be a shotgun and a fuel canister. Secret Service agents and Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office officers confronted him at the north gate; officers ordered him to drop the items, he put down only the canister and was shot after raising the shotgun to a “shooting position.” The shooting occurred around 1:30 a.m.

Sunday. President Trump was not at Mar-a-Lago. Family posts and a statement from the sheriff in Mr. Martin’s North Carolina county indicate he likely drove to Florida on Saturday afternoon. His mother posted that he was missing and asked followers to “find my boy,” later sharing a poster with his photo and a description of his car, a 2013 silver Volkswagen Tiguan.

Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said a silver Volkswagen believed to be Mr. Martin’s was found near the scene with a box in the back seat that appeared to have carried the shotgun.
