222 raises millions to expand AI tools for relationships
222, a startup that pairs strangers for in‑real‑life experiences, has raised more funding to build out its AI-driven relationship tools. After raising another $10.1 million in 2025 — bringing the startup's total to $13.7 million — it is doubling down on hiring and expanding its product.
The project began as a 2021 dinner series in Los Angeles and grew into a company that joined Y Combinator, moved to New York City, and launched a mobile app in 2024. The app matches people for events such as dinners or nights out after they complete a detailed personality quiz, using models trained by the team alongside open-source AI.
222 focuses on labeled data from user feedback to improve pairings. CTO Arman Roshannai says the system learns from whether people spend additional time together after an introduced meeting. Subscribers pay $22 a month and are encouraged to try multiple experiences so the AI can curate better matches.
