23 Years Later, Dwayne Johnson’s Cult Buddy Comedy Is Moving to a New Streamer
The Rundown, a 2003 buddy action comedy starring Dwayne Johnson, Seann William Scott, Christopher Walken and Rosario Dawson, will begin streaming on Starz in the U.S. on March 1, 2026. Critics gave the film a 69% score on Rotten Tomatoes, with the site saying, "The Rundown doesn't break any new ground, but it's a smart, funny buddy action picture with terrific comic chemistry between Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Seann William Scott." Audiences awarded it 66%.
Despite Johnson's rising profile, the movie did not recoup its production costs. Against a reported budget of $85 million it earned $80 million worldwide — $47 million domestically and $33 million overseas — making it one of the lowest-grossing films in his career.
The synopsis notes that Beck, a tight-lipped bounty hunter who dislikes using a gun, is sent to the Amazon to locate his employer's cocky son and ends up facing a tyrannical treasure hunter; Beck and the son must work together while their affections for a mysterious rebel complicate matters.
