26 Episodes Later, High Potential Takes a New Direction With Its Biggest Mystery
High Potential returns after a month-long hiatus with Season 2, Episode 13, The Driver's Seat. The Major Crimes team investigates a complicated murder while Morgan struggles with the reminder that her kids are growing up, and Arthur gets a major breakthrough in the investigation into Roman's disappearance.
The case opens with an attempted carjacking at a dealership that sells technologically advanced cars: a crashed vehicle, a man shot dead, and security footage that shows the victim was killed elsewhere and then brought to the lot. The victim is Joaquin Herrero, a professor and climate activist who had been loudly protesting toxic waste linked to owner Glen Gannick.
Morgan and Karadec uncover a framing scheme involving a judge, a man named Darby Winters, and a neighbor, Katie, and determine that Gannick used dealership cars to gather information, blackmail opponents, killed Joaquin when he was exposed, and then framed others; Gannick is arrested.
