Since the 1977 premiere of Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope the franchise has grown into a vast multimedia entity, but not every entry stays in the spotlight. With new titles arriving every year, even well-crafted projects can slip from popular memory for reasons ranging from crowded release schedules to changes in canon.

Some overlooked works come from the Expanded Universe. Star Wars: Legacy (2006–2010), written by John Ostrander and Jan Duursema, follows Luke Skywalker’s descendant Cade and was praised and commercially strong during its run before Disney reset the Expanded Universe to non‑canon.

LucasArts’ Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (2008) introduced Darth Vader’s secret apprentice Starkiller, became a bestseller despite technical issues, and remains a popular non‑canon character. Recent Disney+ shows and experimental projects have also been underrated.
