Valerie and Max, both 73, say that after 50 years together they still prioritise sex and intimacy; Valerie says she is "more orgasmic than ever" and can have five orgasms in a row.

They met in 1975, and Valerie recalled that early sex was romantic, with candlelight and incense, and that sex has always been a big part of their lives. They have paused sex at times because of surgeries, illnesses or after their children were born, but they say they were always keen to return and that when they cannot be intimate they make sure to cuddle and kiss.

Both accept the physical and mental changes of ageing and still make an effort—Valerie sometimes wears long‑owned lingerie and they spend a lot of time cuddling. Max says about 20 years ago their sex evolved from intercourse to what they call "outercourse" and oral sex after he had difficulty maintaining an erection; they now have sex about once a week, usually on Saturday date night, focusing on slow touching and making the partner's orgasm central.

They acknowledge some health issues but say their sex is better now than in the past and expect it to continue; Valerie said she hopes any "last time" is far off, perhaps in their 80s or 90s, and added she would not become intimate with someone else if Max were gone, while Max said their sex is better today than yesterday and he expects it to be better next week.
