At 76 I train every day and can still do five muscle-ups
I've been active for as long as I can remember. Growing up in Fujian, I watched university students running and playing sports, and that left an impression on me. In the 1970s I moved to Hong Kong, keeping fit by running and walking to work, and later relocated to Singapore with my wife, where we raised two sons.
When I moved overseas I quit smoking and I don't drink alcohol. I spent most of my career in the jewelry business and in 2010 transitioned to part-time work handling export documentation and running errands. With more time on my hands I wanted a group to stay active with and found a seniors' gym at a community center — that's how I joined Team Strong Silvers.
We take our workouts seriously and are sometimes invited to show other seniors what we can still do. My day usually starts around 7 or 8 a.m. with light exercise downstairs, and in the afternoon I go to the gym. I focus on calisthenics, using body weight to build strength.
