A Big Bold Beautiful Journey begins charting on Netflix after theatrical flop
According to Movieweb, Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell's 2025 fantasy film A Big Bold Beautiful Journey is finding a new audience on Netflix and is currently charting at number seven.
Kogonada’s rom-com, which opened September 19, 2025, was widely panned by critics and earned $20 million worldwide against a $40 million budget. Reviews and audience scores diverged (critics 37%, audiences 58%), and coverage described the film as “pretentious” and “more about the picturesque whimsy of its locations than building any kind of chemistry between its leads,” with some viewers calling parts of it “flat” and a “lifeless bore.”
The screenplay began life on the Black List of unproduced scripts. Both leads have other projects lined up: Robbie is set to appear in Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights with Jacob Elordi, and Farrell is expected to reprise Oz Cobb (the Penguin) in The Batman Part II; a Sgt. Rock project he was listed for was canned last year, “at least for now.”
