A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Finale: A Quiet, Bittersweet Close
Season 1 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms ends on a quieter, more reflective note. After the violence of Episode 5, "The Morrow" focuses on the fallout from the Trial of Seven and Baelor Targaryen’s death, exploring Dunk’s guilt and giving Egg emotionally charged scenes that emerge as the episode’s standout.
The finale trades action for questions about Dunk’s purpose and the origins of Targaryen madness, while still offering a glimpse of what Season 2 might bring. Dunk remains grievously wounded and reluctant to accept offers from powerful men, including Lyonel Baratheon, who visits with a maester and urges him to go to Storm’s End.
He attends Baelor’s funeral and tries to comfort the grieving Valarr, and later finds Raymun Fossoway surprisingly settled and married to Red. Those quieter encounters underline how the tourney’s consequences ripple through different lives. Within the royal family, Maekar wrestles with guilt and seeks to curb Aerion by sending him away, while also proposing that Dunk train Egg at Summerhall.
