The Ramin Djawadi theme from Game of Thrones makes its first sincere appearance in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ fourth episode, "Seven," and the timing feels deliberate. HBO’s other spin-offs faced a choice about whether to reuse Djawadi’s music; House of the Dragon kept the original score, while A Knight holds the theme back until a moment that heightens its emotional weight.

In "Seven," Dunk faces consequences for his transgression against Prince Aerion Targaryen and asks for a trial by combat, only to be told he must have six supporters for a trial by seven. He secures Ser Lyonel Baratheon and other allies but fears he cannot find a seventh.

The theme arrives when Baelor Targaryen rides onto the field to join Dunk, turning the music into more than a cue for action: it underscores a realization of the franchise’s central themes. The series has signaled its smaller scale from the start, even subverting Djawadi’s theme in episode one with a comedic interruption, and it leans on Dan Romer’s score for most of its identity.
