A Super Bowl in Silicon Valley Filled With Valley Billionaires
Every Super Bowl takes on the culture of its host city — South Beach in Miami, the French Quarter in New Orleans, Hollywood in Los Angeles. This Sunday’s game at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, an hour’s drive south of San Francisco, will reflect Silicon Valley and draw a who’s who of corporate executives, venture capitalists, entertainment figures and others hoping to rub shoulders with them.
Some expected attendees include Neal Mohan, the chief executive of YouTube, who will be in the suite of the N.F.L. commissioner, Roger Goodell; Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of services, and his boss, Tim Cook; and Alan Waxman of Sixth Street. Lewis Hamilton and Justin Bieber are also expected.
Pregame celebrations filled the Bay Area: streets near the Embarcadero were clogged with self-driving Waymos carrying passengers to corporate parties, Gavin Newsom stopped by the FanDuel x Spotify event as Green Day played an hourlong set, and companies like Uber and Fanatics hosted performances by Olivia Dean, Cardi B and SZA.
