'Absolutely phenomenal' - Max Dowman hailed after historic Arsenal moment
The Emirates witnessed history as Arsenal wonderkid Max Dowman became the youngest-ever Premier League scorer with a solo run to seal a 2-0 win against Everton. He came on late, helped create Viktor Gyokeres' opener and then raced through the defence to tap into an open goal.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5, ex-Chelsea star Pat Nevin called it "a beautiful moment of football," praising the teenager's immediate influence: "The creativity of Max Dowman...he created the first goal – he changed the game when he came on. That last moment when he ran the length of the pitch is absolutely phenomenal.
That will be remembered with many, many years to come." With Jordan Pickford caught upfield, Dowman cleared the ball and embarked on a 75-yard sprint before tapping the ball into the net. Nevin urged viewers "do not miss it," adding: "You have to wait for them to keep on running and keep on running.
