AC Milan believed they had agreed a €15m fee plus €2m in performance bonuses to sign Corinthians' highly rated youngster Andre, but the Brazilian club has since pulled back after internal opposition. Corinthians coach Dorival Junior publicly urged the club to keep the player, saying he had told the president the club must choose between a technical return or only a financial one and that he did not want to lose anyone during the season.

Milan say they hold documents signed by Corinthians' legal department that could be interpreted as preliminary approval, and the club is prepared to take the matter to FIFA. If the dispute reaches the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber or the Players’ Status Chamber, a tribunal is unlikely to force a club to transfer a player; any ruling for Milan would most likely result in financial compensation rather than a compelled move.
