Adam Levine's Daughter and Numerology Nearly Swayed Jonah Mayor
Coach Adam Levine tried to win over Jonah Mayor on the first episode of The Voice: Battle of Champions, even invoking his oldest daughter and the power of numerology. Mayor, a 31-year-old singer from the Bronx, sang in Italian and displayed a large, seemingly flawless range; Kelly Clarkson called him sexy and told him, "I love you." Levine conceded, "I can't compete with any of what just happened." After the performance Mayor hugged Clarkson, then Levine, and even offered a hug to John Legend, who hadn't turned his chair.
Levine complimented his scent—"Rich mahogany, leather"—and admitted defeat: "Jonah, you’re super awesome, and you’re gonna do great things with Kelly." Legend said he was "thoroughly impressed," and Clarkson noted that classical singers can break into the mainstream, citing Andrea Bocelli and Josh Groban.
Mayor revealed his favorite number is 21 and that he was born on October 21, a detail Clarkson tied to her Season 21 win with Girl Named Tom.
