Adam Sandler’s 20-Year-Old Sci-Fi Tearjerker Surges on Streaming

Adam Sandler’s high-concept sci-fi dramedy Click is sitting at #3 on Prime Video’s streaming chart, a sign that audiences are returning to the 20-year-old film. The movie, released June 23, 2006, mixes comedy with unexpectedly strong emotional beats. Played by Sandler, workaholic architect Michael Newman struggles to balance a demanding boss, his marriage and fatherhood.

A chance encounter in the “Beyond” section of Bed Bath & Beyond introduces Morty, played by Christopher Walken, who gives Michael a universal remote that can fast-forward through life. Skipping arguments, traffic and awkward moments seems like a dream—until the remote begins making choices for him and his life starts slipping away.
