Adi Arora Was 'So Poetic' Singing Bruno Mars on The Voice
Viewers hold their breath whenever an Artist sings a Bruno Mars song on The Voice, since his material is notoriously difficult to cover. On the March 2 episode of The Voice: Battle of Champions, college student Adi Arora delivered a blind audition of Mars' "It Will Rain" that stunned the coaches.
With a striking falsetto, the Cornell University undergrad channeled Bruno Mars through the song's verses and chorus. John Legend pressed his red button almost as soon as Arora began singing, and Kelly Clarkson followed a few moments later. Arora capped the performance by expertly holding the song's ultra-high final notes, prompting Clarkson to shout, "Okay!" and securing his spot in the Battles.
Adam Levine did not turn, even though the performance seemed to suit his pop sensibilities. Legend praised him directly: "I loved your tone... it was just so poetic.
