After 48 Years, Only 1 Actor Has Played Both Ghostface and Michael Myers
Stuntman Chris Durand holds the unusual distinction of having played both Ghostface and Michael Myers on film. He appears as Ghostface in Scream 2 (1997) and as Michael Myers in Halloween: H20 (1998). Durand came to the work from a background he described as a rocker, climber and martial artist and built a career as a stunt performer on projects from The Crow to Westworld.
In Scream 2 he put on the Ghostface robe for a pivotal sequence, chasing Sarah Michelle Gellar’s character Cici through a house, throwing her through a French door and killing her; he also performed the cross-lowering lift for Derek’s character in the third act.
He said the Ghostface costume was roomy and allowed movement, though vision was limited, and called director Wes Craven quiet, gentle and fun to work with. Producers for Halloween: H20 sought someone with a physical background, and director Steve Miner gave Durand latitude to shape The Shape.
