Agent of ex-coach slams Tottenham over Igor Tudor hiring
The agent of John Heitinga, Thomas Frank's former assistant at Tottenham Hotspur, criticised the club after Igor Tudor was handed the top job until the end of the season. Spurs have endured a woeful run of form since the turn of the year and Tudor, often seen as an emergency hire, got off to a poor start with a 4-1 loss to Arsenal.
Jansen said Heitinga had been asked to remain on the coaching staff but chose to leave once Tudor and his backroom team arrived. “He was allowed to stay. They even asked him to stay. All other coaches, all Scandinavian, left. And after three weeks, they told him: ‘Please stay and see out your contract here.’ That’s quite an achievement for someone who worked there for three weeks,” he said.
“That almost never works. Why they did that is a mystery to me.” He added there had been a chance Heitinga could take over, but the club opted for experience instead. “What does the management do, or in this case, the owners, the Lewis family? They opt for some kind of security.
