AGN SIG Vision Series Seminar, 17 Feb 2026 - NASA Science
Science reports a virtual AGN SIG Vision Series seminar will be held on 17 February 2026 at 1:00 pm ET / 10:00 am PT, and the community is invited to join. The first Vision Series talk for the year will feature Dr. Santiago Garcia-Burillo (Observatorio Astronómico Nacional-OAN) presenting The ALMA View of the Gas Cycle in Nearby AGN.
The quarterly series consists of a 30-minute “vision” talk focused on outstanding questions surrounding supermassive black holes, their origin, growth, and connection to galaxy evolution, followed by ample time for community discussion. High-resolution images of the distribution and kinematics of molecular gas in the circumnuclear disks of nearby AGN are central to understanding mechanisms that control the feeding and feedback cycles of gas in active galaxies.
With ALMA enabling an expanding sample of targets, studies have highlighted the role of radio jets and AGN winds in launching molecular outflows and revealed a 'relic' imprint of AGN feedback on the radial distribution of molecular gas.
