Businessinsider reports that Tapestry said Coach and Kate Spade designers now use AI in their day-to-day work, but the design process still begins with hand-drawn sketches, CEO Joanne Crevoiserat said on an earnings call. Crevoiserat said AI helps designers iterate on sketches, apply color multipliers and make design tweaks much faster, and that the tools have sped up the supply chain and product development timelines, which then drive the company's growth.

Other fashion companies have also adopted generative AI: a designer at Alice + Olivia told The Wall Street Journal their collection included tarot-card-inspired prints generated with Leonardo AI and Adobe Firefly, an LVMH tech director said teams use AI to generate mood boards, and independent designers have used tools like ChatGPT and Midjourney for visuals.

Tapestry reported second-quarter revenue of $2.5 billion, a 14% increase from the same period last year, and the company's stock rose more than 10% after the strong earnings; it is up 95% in the past year.
