AI will accelerate tech job growth, former Tesla president says
Managing complexity is still beyond the reach of AI, and for the foreseeable future humans remain essential for infrastructure and architecture, says Jon McNeill. As AI becomes part of more businesses, it is increasing demand for well-designed infrastructure, resilient networks, and sophisticated software stacks that require human oversight.
For infrastructure and networking professionals the need for compute and servers is creating strong demand for networking expertise. A significant percentage of GPUs fail each year, so teams are constantly replacing and re-synching hardware and getting networking software working again with high-band memory chips, all of which adds up to sustained hiring pressure.
On the computer science and software side, McNeill says developers must move to higher-level skills.
