Long flights often mean choosing between muffled airline headphones or being tethered by a cable. Twelve South’s AirFly Pro 2 plugs into an airplane entertainment system’s 3.5mm jack and transmits audio to Bluetooth headphones, building on the popularity of the original AirFly.

The adapter supports two headphones at once, has physical volume buttons, aux-in compatibility, a USB-C charging port and a 25-hour battery. An upgraded Qualcomm chip improves audio quality, stabilizes connections and reduces power use; a TX/RX switch toggles between sending audio from an analog source and receiving audio to play through an aux-in system.

On a recent Atlanta-to-New York flight I paired my Sonos Ace headphones with the AirFly Pro 2 and watched Moana 2. Pairing was straightforward, spatial audio and noise cancellation worked as expected, and the dongle avoided the limitations wired mode imposes on wireless headphone settings.
