Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain announced his arrival in Scottish football by coming off the bench to score a stoppage-time winner on his Celtic debut, securing a vital 2-1 victory over Livingston. The former Liverpool and Arsenal midfielder, who had been training with the Gunners to maintain his fitness before signing a short-term deal, was introduced in the 78th minute and had just 14 touches, one of which proved decisive.
Celtic had looked set to drop points as Livingston goalkeeper Jerome Prior produced nine saves to keep the scores level, but Oxlade-Chamberlain’s late finish snatched three points. The goal moved Martin O'Neill’s side within a point of Rangers in second and cut the gap to leaders Hearts to six points, with Celtic still holding a game in hand.
