Alexa+: Amazon's generative-AI assistant and how to get it — Latest news

Alexa+ is now available for all Alexa users in the US. The upgrade brings generative AI to Amazon’s voice assistant, offering a more natural cadence, the ability to handle multiple prompts in a single query, and content generation instead of canned responses. Prime members get Alexa+ at no extra cost; a standalone subscription is offered for $20 per month.

The assistant can remember user preferences to enable more productive interactions and has contextual awareness that supports long conversations and recall of earlier questions. It can also read and process documents to answer questions, such as school calendars or an HOA’s CC&R document.

Alexa+ is powered by Amazon Bedrock models such as Nova and Anthropic and is described as more capable than the previous Alexa. Amazon introduced the generative features through an Early Access program that began rolling out to some users in spring 2025 and lasted about 10 months before general availability.
