Businessinsider reported that Alibaba's cofounder Joe Tsai said employees need an ownership mindset and agility to help drive innovation. Tsai said large companies can stop innovating, noting, "We've gone through periods where we stopped innovating, and we suffer from it as a large company." He added that creating a separate innovation division is not the solution and that leaders should "instill in people some sense of ownership," so they care about making customers, not bosses, happy.

On agility, Tsai said workers must accept uncertainty and act: "You'd have to be able to tolerate not having full information and then just making a decision and committing to it. Then if you find out you're wrong, pivot fast in a different direction." The company has staged a significant comeback in the last two years driven by AI innovation and restructuring.
