Alien: Earth, the franchise’s first TV series created for television by Noah Hawley, is set two years before the original Alien and follows a young woman and a group of ragtag soldiers who uncover a vessel full of dangerous species. Ridley Scott remains involved as a producer, offering creative insight, and FX renewed the series for a second season weeks after the Season 1 finale.

Executive producer Dana Gonzales posted a photo from Pinewood Studios on Instagram with the caption, “Super excited to start the journey of Alien: Earth Season 2. World-building in the Alien universe birthplace.” That message suggests production on Season 2 is about to begin.

The first season is available on Hulu. Directors on the show have included Dana Gonzales, Ugla Hauksdóttir and Noah Hawley, with writing contributions from Bob DeLaurentis, Sydney Chandler, Wendy Alex Lawther and Hermit. Separately, another Alien movie—a direct sequel to 2024’s Alien: Romulus—is in development.
