All About Eve has been a fixture on "best of" lists since its release 75 years ago. The film won the Academy Award for Best Picture and ranks No. 28 on the American Film Institute's Top 100 list; Bette Davis’s line, “Fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a bumpy night,” sits at No.

9 on the AFI’s quotes compilation. The movie also holds a distinctive place in Academy history. It is tied with Titanic and Ben-Hur for the most nominations overall, shares a tie with eight other films for the most acting nominations, and still holds the record for the most female acting nominations with four.

George Sanders won Best Supporting Actor for his role as Addison DeWitt, but none of the four nominated actresses took home an Oscar that night — and one of them never won an Academy Award at all. Bette Davis, who led the cast, arrived at All About Eve already considered an Oscar heavyweight, having won two Best Actress awards in the 1930s and held the most nominations of any actress at the time.
