All Five Phil Lord and Christopher Miller Movies, Ranked
Phil Lord and Christopher Miller began together on the animated series Clone High and went on to direct a mix of animated films and R-rated live-action comedies. They have also produced and written for the Spider-Verse films and were briefly attached to Solo: A Star Wars Story before departing over creative differences.
That gap helps explain why they had no directorial release between 2015 and 2025, despite remaining active as producers and writers. The fifth spot goes to Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, their first feature. It’s a fast-paced, family-friendly sci-fi comedy about a machine that makes clouds rain food, and while some of the animation hasn’t aged as well as the best of the era, the film’s relentless joke density and playful tone make it an enjoyable warm-up for what followed.
At four is 21 Jump Street, a broad, R-rated buddy-cop comedy that trades the original TV series’ seriousness for absurd, fast-paced humor and strong chemistry between Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum.
