People reports an Altadena, California, resident shared footage of a large bear living in the crawl space beneath his home.

The resident, who did not want to be identified or to disclose his exact location, said he believes the animal has been present for at least four to five days and lives less than half a mile from where a bear reportedly stayed under another person’s home for six weeks. Video aired by KTLA showed the man easing under the house and filming the resting bear from a distance while shining a flashlight; it is unclear whether this is the same bear that was estimated at more than 500 pounds.

Nearby resident Deborah Wilson was quoted laughing that people should "close up the crawl space," and said her family has since sealed theirs as a precaution, noting wildlife sightings in the area are not uncommon. Previous removal efforts elsewhere in Altadena included a trap that caught a different bear, which was released, and on Jan. 6 BEAR League said it removed an animal after it "caused extensive damage to the home’s heating ducts." It remains unknown whether the animal under this home is the same bear involved in earlier incidents.
