Portuguese media say Amorim showed 'excessive rigidity' after Man United exit
Goal reports Portuguese outlets criticised Ruben Amorim following his Manchester United sacking, with Record commentator Nuno Felix saying the coach approached his first experience abroad "with excessive rigidity in his ideas, almost dogmatic."
Felix told Record that Amorim "insisted on a model and principles that did not align with the squad's profile, showed little strategic flexibility, and was slow to understand that, in a club of this size, adaptation is a daily requirement," adding that the coach's stubbornness "cost him time and credibility." He also argued that Amorim was part of a wider pattern at United, naming David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Erik ten Hag as predecessors who "failed," and saying the club suffers from no clear medium/long-term football strategy, unbalanced squads and management focused on commercial exploitation under the Glazer family.
Portuguese outlet Ojogo described Old Trafford as "a graveyard for managers since Sir Alex Ferguson's departure," saying the 40-year-old Amorim leaves the Red Devils with "just 24 wins in 63 matches and without any titles." The reports concentrated on the coach's approach and the club's structural issues rather than outlining the club's next steps.
