The 3.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out, adding a pier resort run by kappas, crossover items and quality-of-life changes, Polygon reports.

If you have a Nintendo Switch 2, you can buy a $4.99 paid upgrade that adds enhanced graphics, Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, GameChat compatibility, support for up to 12 island visitors and a Megaphone tool that uses the microphone to call villagers. Everything else listed is part of the free update.

The free content includes a new hotel on the pier where you can decorate rooms for visitors, earn tickets to spend at Gran's shop and submit DIY items to a board for more tickets, plus new Nook Miles objectives. Crafting now supports using materials from storage and mass crafting, you can store trees and plants and expand storage further, and you can move items tile-to-tile. Resetti's Reset Service can clear parts of an island (the mole explains a few limitations), and Luna's Slumber Islands let players decorate sandbox islands using catalogued items and invite friends in real time after receiving a letter from Luna and having Nintendo Switch Online.

You can scan amiibo from The Legend of Zelda and Splatoon to unlock special items in Nook Shopping and invite villagers inspired by those games if you have open plots. New decorative items include Lego pieces available via Nook Shopping and other items that require resort tickets or specific amiibo scans.
