Anthropic expands Claude into Excel, PowerPoint, and Slack
Anthropic is embedding Claude directly into workplace tools, bringing the model into Excel, PowerPoint, and Slack. On Tuesday the startup unveiled "Cowork & Plugins for the Enterprise," a package that lets users run Claude inside those applications and carry context between programs.
"Until now, enterprise AI has followed a persistent pattern: you go to the AI, get an answer, then go back to your actual tools to do the work," Anthropic wrote. "Now, Claude works inside the tools knowledge workers already use — Excel, PowerPoint, Slack — not as a separate window, but as part of how work actually gets done." The launch positions Anthropic as a challenger to Microsoft and OpenAI for control of the digital workplace.
Microsoft has embedded 365 Copilot across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams and offers Copilot Studio; OpenAI launched Frontier; Google integrated Gemini through Gmail and its Workplace applications; Amazon offers Quick Suite.
