Protesters are expected to rally in dozens of states this weekend to oppose the Trump administration’s deportation tactics, with demonstrations planned in towns large and small and a march in Minneapolis on Saturday, organizers say. In Minneapolis, advocacy groups including the Twin Cities Coalition for Justice and the Minnesota Immigration Rights Action Committee are holding a march and rally at 1 p.m.

at Bryant Square Park. Church bells will ring beginning at noon in Minneapolis and St. Paul, organizers said. The national group 50501 has organized an "ICE Out of Everywhere National Day of Action," with demonstrations, protests and vigils scheduled in all 50 states and Washington, D.C., according to a news release.

Events are expected outside detention centers, ICE field offices, the facilities of airlines that work with the agency and congressional offices, the release said. The weekend actions follow a national "shutdown" on Friday, when people stayed home from school, work and shopping, and thousands marched in rallies across the country.

Bruce Springsteen and Tom Morello played a benefit concert in Minneapolis as part of the protests, and students walked out or demonstrated in places including Minnesota, Rhode Island and Florida, where some institutions have agreed to work with ICE. Organizers have pointed to a string of deadly encounters as the impetus for this weekend’s protests, including the killings in Minneapolis of Renee Good, who was shot on Jan.
