Antony scores stunning overhead kick in Seville derby for Real Betis

In Seville’s Gran Derbi at the Benito Villamarín, Antony opened the scoring with a stunning overhead kick. The breakthrough came 15 minutes in after a deflected ball bounced into the penalty area; Antony repositioned himself, launched into the air and connected with a strike that left the goalkeeper with no chance.

After a difficult three-year spell at Old Trafford, Antony has flourished at Betis and become the side’s technical leader. The derby goal was more than a highlight-reel moment; it capped a run of consistent performances and reinforced his role as a player who can produce the spectacular in high-pressure matches.

Betis could not hold on for the win. Álvaro Fidalgo’s effort gave the hosts a 2-0 lead at the break, but Sevilla fought back to draw 2-2 with goals from Alexis Sánchez (another United flop) and Isaac Romero. Sánchez’s diving header made him the oldest player to score in a La Liga derby between Sevilla and Betis in the 21st century at 36 years and 72 days, surpassing Joaquín Sánchez.
