Antony Starr, best known as Homelander in The Boys, will lead and executive produce a new Netflix thriller series called Breakers, which is in production in Australia with filming set to wrap in June.

Starr is currently the only cast member attached and will play a central role named Brando, according to Netflix. The surfing drama follows two best friends who go backpacking in Australia and are drawn into a seemingly perfect community of surfers led by a charismatic but mysterious figure.

Breakers comes from writer-executive producer Pete Jackson (Somewhere Boy) and Clerkenwell Films, the production company behind Netflix’s Baby Reindeer. Mary Nighy and Ng Choon Ping are set to direct, and Gavin O'Grady, Petra Fried, and Wim De Greef serve as executive producers alongside Jackson and Starr.

The series will be Starr’s second producing credit after The Boys. His performance on The Boys has been widely praised and helped raise his profile; he has also appeared in Amazon’s G20, had a cameo in Apple TV’s The Studio, and recently wrapped Samo Lives, in which he plays Andy Warhol.

Netflix has not announced a release date but said Breakers will debut “sometime soon.” The Boys’ fifth and final season arrives in April, with the show’s conclusion — and the leader of The Seven’s fate — expected before Breakers’ production finishes in June.
