Anya Taylor-Joy’s 127‑Minute Sci‑Fi Epic Is Winning Over ‘The Last of Us’ Fans
Anya Taylor-Joy has become one of Hollywood’s most prominent young stars over the past decade, after early roles in The Witch and Morgan and breakout acclaim for her 2020 turn in the Netflix miniseries The Queen’s Gambit. She recently headlined Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga opposite Chris Hemsworth and is set for a larger role in Dune: Part Three on December 18.
One of her streaming successes is The Gorge, an Apple TV original directed by Scott Derrickson from a script by Zach Dean. The 127-minute film, which co-stars Miles Teller, follows two rogue agents—one American and one Russian—assigned to guard opposite sides of a deep gorge crawling with terrifying creatures.
Released February 28, 2025, it remains among Apple TV’s top five most popular movies a year after its debut. Taylor-Joy currently has at least three completed films awaiting release. First on the schedule is The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, reuniting her with Chris Pratt and Keegan-Michael Key on April 1.
