Apple has unveiled the MacBook Neo, an entry-level laptop priced at $599 that uses the A18 chip—the same processor found in the iPhone 16 Pro—and targets budget PCs and Chromebooks in the low-end market.

The Neo is a 2.74-pound, colorfully finished machine meant for everyday tasks like web browsing, email and media. Its 13-inch Liquid Retina display delivers 500 nits of brightness at a 2408 x 1506 resolution and includes a 1080p FaceTime HD webcam.

Configurations offer 8GB of unified memory with either 256GB or 512GB of local storage. It does not include the N1 chipset used in Apple’s M5 models, and supports Wi‑Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6; the laptop has two USB‑C ports that are not Thunderbolt-enabled.

The MacBook Neo arrives in Indigo, Blush, Citrus and Silver, and follows recent price increases for the MacBook Air and Pro to leave room at the low end. It is available for pre-order today, with general retail availability beginning March 11th.
