Arachnophobia mods replace Resident Evil Requiem spiders with Thomas the Tank Engine

Resident Evil Requiem includes a segment midway through the game that leans heavily on spiders, a turn that can be enough to make players with severe arachnophobia skip the game entirely. Mere days after the game’s February 27 launch, modders have put out several arachnophobia mods for the PC release.

Their approaches range from practical removals to deliberately absurd swaps: one Nexus Mods upload replaces the large spider in the second act with formless blobs, while others replace various arachnid models with birds, rats, or even Mr. X. The most humorous option turns the giant spider into Thomas the Tank Engine, a twist that some players may find funnier than frightening.

Resident Evil fans have used the sentient train to ease the horror before, most notably by modding Resident Evil 2’s Mr. X into Thomas in 2019.
