Arc Raiders devs embrace self-described sheriffs in PvP
Embark Studios says Arc Raiders has cultivated a variety of roleplaying communities, among them self-described sheriffs who dispense what they call justice in online lobbies.
Design director Virgil Watkins told PC Gamer about a roaming group of Stella Montis sheriffs who pounce on suspected PvP aggressors. They do not always get their targets right, but they act as the law within those spaces.
The studio welcomes those moments. Developers are simply glad the game leaves room for that kind of emergent storytelling, even when verdicts are sometimes mistaken.
