Arco: 2025 French Animated Sci‑Fi Now Available to Stream

Arco, an independently produced French animated film from 2025, is now available to rent or buy on VOD. Released amid a crowded year for animation, it drew attention for its memorable characters, striking hand-drawn visuals and an unusual blend of whimsy and realism.

The film was produced by Oscar-winner Natalie Portman. The story follows ten-year-old Arco, who lives in 2932 where time travel exists but is forbidden to those under twelve. After stealing his sister’s time-traveling cape and gemstone, he aims for the age of dinosaurs but instead crashes into 2075 and meets a girl named Iris.

Together with Iris’ robot nanny, Mikki, they set out to get Arco home and confront a threat that may put Earth in peril. The film has been compared to the work of Hayao Miyazaki for its wonder-filled, colorful aesthetic and its ability to pair visual ambition with intimate character storytelling.
