When Marcelo Fosco's Dungeons & Dragons players reached 20th level and wanted to continue, he began inventing Epic Boons and monsters with a challenge rating of 30 for his Ariadne’s Codex of Strings books. The response prompted a February Kickstarter for Ariadne’s Book of Legends, which has raised $200,000 and aims to deliver high-level gameplay channels reminiscent of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End and The Avengers.

Book of Legends adds five legendary levels and grants access to the legendary action points used by the most powerful monsters, making players choose between big offensive abilities or saving themselves from devastating attacks. The project also tackles the long-standing gap between spellcasters and martial classes.

Fosco introduced Mythical Techniques so martial characters can perform feats such as leaping across a battlefield or punching through a tower, and even a strike that can push the soul out of a character, providing counterparts to spells like Maze.
