Liverpool comfortably secured their place in the Champions League quarter-finals with a 4-0 second-leg win over Galatasaray at Anfield Road. Afterwards manager Arne Slot criticised the visitors for what he saw as excessive time-wasting: "At some point, enough is enough," he said, adding that he’d often seen players lying on the ground "for another half an hour." He argued repeatedly with the fourth official and admitted he had done little "except perhaps running up and down the touchline like a madman." Slot said he had been more animated than usual because the fans, who had booed after a 1-1 draw with relegation-threatened Tottenham at the weekend, raised their voices whenever Galatasaray tried to stop Liverpool’s momentum.

"From the very first moment, when they tried to stop the momentum, our fans raised their voices even more," he noted, and called the combined response important: "we have to fight together against what we saw tonight." Not every stoppage was without consequence.
