Arne Slot warns further injuries would make Liverpool's season harder
A report from Theguardian says Arne Slot warned Liverpool face 'a hell of a challenge' to prevent injuries affecting their ambitions after the club failed to sign Lutsharel Geertruida on deadline day.
Slot is without two defenders for the remainder of the season, Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni, while Jeremie Frimpong is sidelined with a hip injury. Joe Gomez has missed the past two games with a hip problem but could return to the bench against Manchester City on Sunday, and the head coach said 16 players were available, including Trey Nyoni and Rio Ngumoha.
Slot said he was 'very happy with the squad' and expects improvement but warned that further injuries would make things more difficult. He noted Liverpool had signed Jérémy Jacquet for next season and defended the club's model of signing younger players, saying he always wants 'the best for the club even if in the short term it is not ideal for me'.
