Arnold Schwarzenegger Confirms King Conan Sequel With Christopher McQuarrie
Arnold Schwarzenegger said Fox is moving forward with a third Conan film and has hired Christopher McQuarrie to write and direct. The 78-year-old made the announcement during an appearance at the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio, saying the studio has tapped the frequent Tom Cruise collaborator to helm what’s being called King Conan.
Schwarzenegger said the new movie will embrace his age, picking up with a Conan who has reigned as king for 40 years and is suddenly forced out of his kingdom. He described the sequel as containing conflict, violence, magic, creatures and large-scale special effects, and added that the role will be written to be age-appropriate while still allowing him to “kick some ass.” The actor first played Conan in the 1982 film Conan the Barbarian, which was followed by Conan the Destroyer.
